The final piece from my last full release in 1999... a favourite of many over the years... look at it any way you like - shallow or deep you'll find something aesthetically pleasing or intellectually stimulating. You can consider it something as trite as Q*bert on LSD, or as symbolic commentary on the rules of life, as per your liking.
A note about the length of the intro on top... ANSI used to be viewed on BBSes where the piece would scroll down, only showing 25 lines at a time. The cube field on top was intended to mesmerize before subtly breaking into the three-eyed bird. Nowadays I know it just doesn't work so I'm re-visiting this piece and will some day put up a modern-day remix that is more artistically cohesive and streamlined... but for now, I think you'll agree it's impressive enough to put online as is
This is pretty much the last of my old material (released 1999 with Sztuka) so unless I dig up something else from the past anything you see from here on in will be new work... have I mentioned how goddamn time consuming these things can be? Ah well... enjoy
Very nice. Making this must have been like watching grass grow. I will never have enough patience to accomplish anything that requires such a grueling process to achieve. Congrats.

Wow, yet another stunning piece of ANSI from you. Qbert was actually my very first computer game. I agree that the length of the cube part is excessive, but it must have been worth the wait. This is really mind-boggling. I love the bird.
you could make a simple flash viewer to [sorta] simpulate the experience
well, i think i could
if you want, i could have a go for you
i wish i was around on the internet in those days
everythings just so bleh now
i like what people can do when they have incledible limitations
it seems as though limitations force people to be more creative
more ingenious
more fun
Heh... this kind of thing predated the internet imagine a time when you would use your computer to dial up a phone number which would connect you to - wait for it - ONE other computer... for the purpose of leaving messages, grabbing files, or playing online games (each system devised to deal with one caller at a time). There were larger BBS systems out there which many people could call into, but for the art side of things boards were usually just one or two nodes (meaning, how many people could be online).
And yes, limitations can encourage creativity to blossom...
well yeah
i'm not that stupid
i know of this so-called bbs
older brothers and the like were attatched to that world
i just wish i was old enough and interested enough to understand it at the time
but it's cool
such a completely different world
heh
i remember playing modem to modem games
the best kind of games
there should be another 5k competetition
except different, this time
Oh, apologies... I mistook you when you said "i wish i was around on the internet in those days"... there are a lot of people on DA who simply haven't ever heard of BBSes and who tend to criticize my art for being "too pixelized" heh heh.
Yeah, those days were fun... but you can't ever go back... or can you? There are telnet BBSes running as we speak, with easy to find software to use... you CAN go back, in some small sense...

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
